Coffee Shop with Goose Creek Candle

One of my favorite things is the scent of fresh coffee brewing in the mornings. There is just something about the warm aroma of coffee beans filling the air while I sip from a warm mug.

I was excited to receive a new candle. Now I can enjoy the fragrance of coffee anytime of the day with this “Coffee Shop” dual wick large candle from Goose Creek Candles

Goose Creek Candles are high in fragrance with a clean burn. I never have to worry about breathing harmful chemicals in the air and each candle is lead free. Clean burn also means the candle glass will not turn black and there is no residue to worry about getting on walls and ceilings.

In a  matter of minutes, my room was smelling like a coffee shop. I could smell the combination of Coffee beans, warm mocha and Hazel nut. The burn time on these large candles are approximately 150 hours and never lose their scent like most other candles. This means the last hour of burning will be as fresh as the first hour.

You can also shop Goose Creek Candles with pride as they are all made right here in the USA.

Summer Fashion Wants

Spring is here and this gives me the itch to want new clothes. It usually starts at Easter. I keep coming across styles online and in the stores that I like. I have a Pinterest board set for “Summer Fashion”. However,  I do more “wanting” than “Buying”.

I need a new bathing suit. They are already getting picked over and I think Target had the cutest ones so far. The full piece seem to be hot this year but I’m leaning more toward the highwaist two peice. I also like the sporty look. I love this one. I’m always drawn to stripes and I like the mixed patterns.

Have you seen all the jumpsuits that are out this year? I started seeing a lot of them last year. While most are casual dressy, I like the comfy, and cute ones. I’m loving the look of this vintage style jumpsuit. It would look great with a bandeau or tank top.

I am actually trying to find a pair of tulle socks. I have not seen anyone wearing them but I think they are just adorable. I may have to order a pair to get what I want. I think they are fun and different. Do they remind you of a lady losing her stockings? I know that’s the reaction I will have with Nick. Haha.

Let’s talk purses. I’m always looking for a fun purse to carry and I am swooning over this Aztec print clutch.

I am not 100% on board with the Kimono tops but these long sheer Kimonos are growing on me. I think they will be great for cool summer nights with jeans, shorts or over a swim suit.

According to my daughter, snake skin print is a growing style in the city right now. I’m glad because I am actually trying to find some wedges like these snakes skin print with brown. They are on Ebay but unfortunately they are not my size. They are also from China and I would want them by Easter, not Christmas.

Now if I could just find the closet space for the clothes and shoes I want. Ha. We have small closets and even with a small amount of clothes, it gets tight. I will just continue to window shop for now....Windows 10 that is.

Best Wax Melts

I few months ago I purchased a cute little electric wax burner for my work office. I'm not a fan of burning candles in my office because of fire hazards in the work place so this works perfect.
(It's not dirty it's just painted that way).

Once again I logged into my favorite candle shop "GooseCreek Candles". They offer more than just great smelling clean candles, but they also have the best wax melts.

With over 120 different fragrances in the wax melts. It always takes me a while to decide on the one I want.

I have enjoyed almost all of the ones I've tried, but my favorite so far is the "Frozen In Time". It has a clean scent that is not too sweet or floral. There is just something about this one that works well with my allergies. Combinations of vanilla peppermint, frosted grapefruit, citrus, and frozen snowdrops give off an aroma that's comfortable on my sinuses and make me feel warm and cozy all day.
Now if I can figure out how they got the frozen snowdrops in there. ha.

These wax melts/tarts are better than any other brand you can get from a local store. They never lose there scent and stay strong for 50 to 80 hours. I will turn my wax burner off at the end of my shift and simply turn it back on the next day. One melt will last me all week. Everyone that walks into my office wants to sit and stay awhile just to soak in the good smell.

Goose Creek candles and wax melts are made right here in the USA with high quality fragrance that do not include any chemicals. You can to relax in your home or office without worrying about your health.

Each wax melt container comes with 6 wedges ready to use. They are inexpensive and shipping is quick. What are you waiting for? Go check them out today.

This product was purchased by me, for me.

Vintage Finds- Pins

I was over at my late father in laws estate this past weekend as we are getting things cleaned up for a future auction.
As I was looking around, I found a couple little vintage trinkets and decided to add them in my Etsy shop for fun.

I saw these hatpins and fell in love with them. I have not actually seen a hatpin in use so I looked up a little history on these jewels.

Here are a few fun facts I found about hatpins.

~Hatpins were origianally made to hold wimples and vials in place.
~Hatpins became popular in the 1880’s to use on hats.
~Women used hat pins as self defense against attacks by men.
~In 1908 A law was passed in America that limited the length of hatpins because they were afraid they would be used for weapon by suffragettes
~I just learned a new word.
~In the 1910s, an ordinance was passed that required hatpins to have covered tips so they would not accidently hurt someone.
~In 1918 passengers were advised to leave the trams if hatpins were uncovered but a law was never passed for that.
~Now days, they are used as brooches on coats or as a conversation piece by collectors.

How about that? I never knew. But I can see these things being weapons as they made pin cushions out of me on the way home. I did not realize they were so sharp. Two of them have protector caps, but one does not.

Next, I came across these adorable little vintage diaper pins. These were also before my time, dating back to the 50’s. They are made of sterling silver and can be monogammed. I’m thinking this was a nice gift for the new baby back in the day. This set is a little tarnish.

Diaper pins were still being used in the 60’s. I remember my mom using cloth diapers on my sister and brother. She was good about pinning them on without sticking the baby. She would place her hand behind the pin and sacrifice her own fingers.

I’m wondering if some people still use cloth diapers now days. I’m surprised they have not made a come back in the organic and recyclable world.

Both of these items and more can be found in my shop until sold.

New IceCream Shop in Town

I got news of a new Ice cream shop that opened up about a half mile from my house. I could actually walk there.

It's called Xcite's Sweet Connection.

They specialize in different styles of ice cream from around the world featuring Gelato, Fried Ice Cream, and shaved ice.
What caught my eye was the "rolled ice cream". There were hundreds of flavors to choose from.

Basically they make a mix of the flavors you choose, while spreading it thin to freeze. Then they would carefully roll it, put it in a cup and top it with even more toppings.

When I heard about  Xcites Sweet Connection, we had to make a family trip over there and try it out. It was the first day so it was crowded and hectic. After a 45 minute wait in line, we got our Ice cream.

I chose the "Salted Carmel Pretzel" and my daughter got "Toasted Marshmallow Smores".

Nick didn't get one but we shared ours with him.

I am not too worried about ruining my diet with this place being so close to me as it's not a doughnut shop or bakery. I like Ice Cream but I have to be in the mood for it.
I do not like to just sit and eat ice cream. I have to be walking around or riding in the car to enjoy a cone of milkshake.

What did I think about it? I thought it was pretty good but a little pricey. I hope they make it, but most places on my end of town do not last more than six months.

Have you ever had rolled Ice Cream (AKA stir fried icecream)?

Acrylic Pour- JojisArt

Today I want to share with all of you some new art in town. My sister has opened an Etsy shop to sell her new found talent. “Acrylic Pour canvas art”. I get to see each one before she post it on her site. She will text me a photo after each one. We both will oohhh and ahhh at the turn out.

My sister is sort of like me in being creative. Her taste is a little more expensive than mine though. I am more of the thrifty and resourceful one.
She is talented and a great artist. We get this from the women in our family. Our grandmothers always were crafty and always making things. Our mother was and still is crafty and a professional seamstress.

With these pantings, she can not plan an out come as each one turns out different. They are all a little surprise as she does her magic. I dont know how she does it, but since it’s called “acrylic pour” I assume she pours it on their somehow.

Here are few of her pieces.

These will look great in a home or office. She makes different sizes. Each painting is one of a kind made with Acrylic Paint on a light weight cotton canvas then topped with a seal of thin varnish which also adds shine. The paint rolls over the edges so it does not need a frame.

If you would like to own one of these original peices of art,  You can purchase one at JojisArt . She is always adding new ones as she creates them on her time away from her regular full time Job. Her talent does not stop here. She also makes beautiful wreaths which you may see added in her shop soon.

So stop by JojisArt and take a look around.

Crochet Bath Pouf

Some call it a bath puff. Some call it a bath pouf,  and some call it a loofah. Whatever you want to call it, it’s a washy thing.

I usually purchase a two dollar nylon bath puff at Walmart. I love them. They are easy to use. When I'm finished washing, I rinse it out and hang it to dry until the next wash. After a few weeks, I can toss it out and get a new one.

I had a request the other day. After seeing one I made in my Etsy shop, a customer asked if I could make another color? “Sure!” I said.
Then she responded, “Great, I will need four plus 4 matching washcloths by March 16th”. I did a face plant in my hand and looked over at my husband. ‘I have a crochet request for a batch’. He smiled and said “thats a good thing “right?” Well, yes and no. Yes I'm thrilled by the request, but there is no way I can get the order filled in a week. Heck, I don't even remember how I made the bath puff that’s been sitting in my shop for months. I thought she just wanted one. Working full time only leaves me with a couple hours at night to get any crocheting done. I had to decline the request.

Later the next evening I grabbed a ball of yarn and began making a bath puff. I figured I needed to refresh my memory on how to make one and how long it will take. It took me three evenings to complete this bath puff! It is super easy to make but time consuming. I thought I was never going to get to the end of the last row and ran out of brown yarn half way through and had to add another color I had on hand. Now not only do I remember how to make one, I also remember why I never made any more. Ha!

These are better than the store bought kind as they hold up longer, suds up better and can be thrown in the washing machine instead of the trash. This saves money. But then again, what’s two dollars right?  I’ll stick to buying the cheep kind and put this one in my shop. Maybe it will sell. I might make more if I get bored or have some time on my hands, but I am currently working on a blanket.

For the fun of it, I’ll share the pattern for this puff.
I consider this a large one as it is approx 17 inches around.

You can use cotton yarn which is my favorite because I love all things cotton,
but I used Acrylic for this one. Acrylic will not mildew, dries faster and is light weight.

If you can read crochet,
Here goes:

Crocheting Halters

It has really been beautiful here in the Carolina's the past couple weeks. The weather has been warm souring into the 80s. Me and Nick have been able to get in some nice long walks and the flip flops and tank tops have come alive in my wardrobe.

But there has been a couple cool or rainy days where all I want to do is curl up in my recliner and crochet. I found a new pattern for a granny square so I made a couple signature halter tops.

First let me show you this little baby shower gift I made for a church friend. I crocheted a little bonnet and booties that can be used to bring baby home from the hospital, pictures or church.

These little crochet items are often never used and just put away as a heirloom. Regardless of what she decides to do with this set, I had fun creating it.

Now about the halters. I couldn't hardly wait to show you. Though they are unique, they are not really my style, so you probably will not see me sporting one of these. I made my daughter a white one last year that is similar to these and she wears it well. I think they are rather cute and if I was in my 20's again, I'd attempt the look.

I can't make two the same as I just add the colors as I go. I will start each square with a color and just add fill in colors as I go.

I call it the boho or hippie look. I'm sure there is someone out there that would love to have one of these. It seems to be the new (but old) trend this summer. "Whats old is new again" they say.

I can see these halters being worn with cut off jeans and sandals. They are cool and perfect for the beach.
I had fun making these and plan to do some more on my spare time.

I have also been having fun creating dish cloths and baby rompers. Im telling ya, my creation ideas are all over the place. I may crochet a trivet on day and a pair booties the next. I never know what direction the hook is going to go. I like trying to make new things and have come a long way on learning to crochet. I surprise myself sometimes.

Halters above can be found in my online store Here
